Term
2 Week 6
25th August 2008
At any time
of the day or night we can call on Jesus.
He is always waiting, listening for our call.
What a wonderful blessing.
No phone needed, no e-mails,
Just a whisper.
We are aware of a number of friends within our school
community that are experiencing ill health and require
appropriate medical intervention. When these situations
occur, families often require time and discretion to deal
with the situation privately. We of course respect this
wish. I would however suggest that prayers still be offered
for those who very much need our support.
“What is the name of the tractor that lives in the
park?” or “What is the name we give to a 12
sided shape?” give up. Well these were the type of
questions asked at the book week Trivia Quiz held on
Wednesday. Parents, Grandparents and students were
challenged to 70 questions ranging from book to political,
sport to environmental in an enjoyable and clever book week
celebration. I thank all parents for the spirit in which
they presented their children for the “Fuel your
Mind” book parade and those who stayed for assembly,
morning tea and the wrapping of the fathers day gifts. I
appreciate the work of Anne-Maree Kitchener who once again
coordinated the event, preparing the questions and
enthusing the student to a very positive response.
We have recently been reminding our students of the
importance both for our school and for themselves of
wearing the correct school uniform and wearing it well. We
know our uniform should reflect the pride and commitment we
have for our school. When worn well our uniform looks
great, however particularly during the winter months it can
become untidy. I seek your support in checking your
child’s uniform particularly in the area of safe and
appropriate footwear.
Our clothing shop has many pre-loved items that are in new
condition. Our lost property container
over flows with the full array of clothing items so please
come and see what we have. With emphasis on uniform, the
school photos that were taken today should look
particularly good.
Today we commenced the whole school T.Ball competition.
Students from Kinder through to Year 6 have nominated
themselves into teams for a recess and lunch time game.
Apart from the lifestyle aspect of this activity, it
promotes a positive relationship building respect from both
our younger and older students. The T.Ball will continue
for 10 weeks, with all teams playing each other twice. The
winning team traditionally takes on a highly skilled team
of teachers, mid next term. We will keep you informed as to
the progress of each team.
Preparations are well underway for our spring
“Dancing with the Stars”, Ball. I am very
pleased with enthusiasm with which the students have
embraced this event. Details of the night will go home
tomorrow. I would like to thank the P & F who have
contributed financially to the cost of the hall and
decoration on the night.
Finally last week I mentioned the St Mary’s Feast Day
in some detail. I neglected to acknowledge the most
generous donation from the Catholic Women’s League of
$50 for the purchase of books for our Library. I sincerely
thank Diane Lyons and the C.W.L. for their ongoing support.
A very big thank you to those brave souls who, despite the
cold and wind, came to the 3rd
Working Bee for
the year. Much was accomplished around the back of the
school particulary on the lower playing fields. The recent
wind had caused tree limbs to accumulate, these were
removed for the safely of our children’s. Fr Francis
has organised for the large shed from St Vincent De Paul to
be donated to the school. Allen Jenkins has very generously
offered to dismantle the shed, store it until the site is
prepared, and then erect it for use as a much needed
storage shed.
We thank Allen for his time and expertise in this area.
