St Mary’s Star of the Sea provides quality, curriculum-based music programs for all students. These programs are provided by a specialist music teacher, Mr Colin Whittaker. St Mary’s also offers small group music tuition in addition to the curriculum based music program offered to all classes. This innovative program conducted by Mr. Colin Whittaker has proved to be a great success with excellent progress achieved by the students involved.
This program has
proved beneficial to the school and students in many ways.
It:
• provides
a range of quality learning opportunities for students
throughout the school
• develops a more positive attitude towards music
• allows students to participate within the local
community events encourages a higher quality of public
performances provided by the students.
These lessons
are conducted during the school day and tuition is
available in guitar, piano, keyboard and percussion. Many
students are currently involved in this program. Mr.
Whittaker will conduct the program on Thursdays and Friday
mornings. Families will be billed directly by Mr Whittaker
and payment for the programs will be directed straight to
him, rather than the school. Mr. Whittaker will operate as
an independent contractor on the school site providing a
valuable service to school families.
